After pandemic hiatus, ESSENCE Festival returns to New Orleans in four-day event

Today on Louisiana Considered, we learn how classic New Orleans shotgun homes are being remodeled to meet modern needs. And, we learn what to expect at the upcoming Essence Festival of Culture.

The architectural term synonymous with New Orleans? Shotgun homes. A new house tour from the Preservation Resource Center’s features five shotgun private homes that have been remodeled with innovative reservations. PRC Executive Director Danielle Del Sol tells us more about how historic homes can meet the needs of modern families.

Following a pandemic hiatus, The Essence Festival of Culture presented by Coca-Cola is finally making its grand return to New Orleans. Barkue Tubman, chief of staff with Essence Ventures, tells us about all the diverse offerings at the upcoming four-day event.
