Pulse of the Planet Live Event

Join WWNO on Thursday October 18, 6:30 p.m. on the University of New Orleans campus for a special live performance by Jim Metzner, creator of  “Pulse of the Planet,” the daily radio feature that explores Planet Earth through sound.  Now on the air for 30 years, “Pulse of the Planet” tracks the rhythms of nature, culture and science worldwide, blending interviews with extraordinary natural sound.  This special one-hour live audience show will take place in the Nims Theater in the UNO Performing Arts Center.  Admission is free; everyone is welcome.

Every weekday for thirty years, “Pulse of the Planet” has brought radio listeners across the United States a sound portrait of life on Planet Earth, becoming one of radio’s longest running science programs. Pulse of the Planet airs weekdays at 12:38 pm on WWNO 89.9 FM and KTLN 90.5 FM.

Jim Metzner has recorded soundscapes all over the world, from the cloud forests of Australia to the favelas of Brazil, and to Acadiana, where Jim recorded the Courir de Mardi Gras, the Cajun Mardi Gras Run. To celebrate thirty years of broadcasts and discovery, Jim and his wife decided  to do a road trip in their Scamp trailer, presenting a live audience performance at radio stations and museums along the way.  The New Orleans show is likely to include some surprises!
