Earlier this month, Governor John Bel Edwards announced the creation of a new task force onStatewide Litter Abatement and Beautification. According to his statement, the task force will aim to find policy solutions for the state’s litter problem, educate the public about trash abatement, and promote community cleanup activities.

But there are some residents who aren’t going to wait around for a task force and let the trash pile up. There are some people, like Jennifer Richardson who are taking matters into their own hands – or at least – their own trash bags.

WRKF’s Karen Henderson met with Jennifer Richardson and her organization,Keep Tiger Town Beautiful, at one of their cleanup events to learn how they are addressing the city's waste problem.
