NOAA Reopens All Federal Waters To Gulf Fishing

New Orleans, La. – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is reopening the last of the federal fishing grounds closed by the BP oil spill. It's just over 1,000 miles surrounding the sunken drilling rig. NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco says lab testing on fish showed traces of oil and chemical dispersant well below levels for concern. No odor or flavor was detected in smell and taste testing also done on the samples. NOAA tested fish in November, March and this month. Critics say sampling has been too sparse, and it's too soon to say that Gulf seafood is safe to eat.
