New Orleans, La. – Mayor Landrieu says all city pumps are working at full capacity to deal with several inches of rain that fell in a few hours. Street flooding is reported throughout Algiers, and several neighborhoods in the East Bank. Some of the flooded areas include intersections along Tchoupitoulas Street and several spots along Magazine Street. Flooding around the Cutoff and Behrman recreation centers is blamed for closing children's camp activities today. Landrieu is asking drivers to avoid heading through standing water because even at a slow crawl, water can be pushed into homes and businesses. Street flooding is forecast to continue this afternoon.
