New Orleans, LA – Michael Lohman was a key witness against former colleagues who shot unarmed civilians on the Danziger Bridge. Two men were killed and four wounded when police opened fire on people seeking shelter in the chaotic aftermath of the storm and flooding. Police were responding to a call of officers in danger at the bridge. Lohman faced five years in prison under federal guidelines, but prosecutors recommended he serve two. The judge says he cut one year off because of a plea for leniency from the brother of one of the men killed. Lohman is set to begin serving his sentence in January.
