Sixty Second Weekend: Blueberry Blues

Need a good tip to keep the energy bill down? Leave the house:

FRIDAY, 6/14:

Food Truck Night with Empanada Intifada (6:30 p.m.) — A new weekly tradition at the new(ish) Faubourg Wines on St. Claude Ave. From 6 - 9:30 p.m., Faubourg Wines teams up with Empanada Intifada who offer up their food truck menu (empanadas, duh — as well as their original poblano-cream mac n' cheese…#noyouarenotdreaming) paired with vino from the shop. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, if you choose to accept it.

SATURDAY, 6/15

Blues and Berries Farm Jam (All Day) — You may have heard that it hasn’t been the best year for blueberries, or their growers. Nevertheless, that won’t stop the folks in Pearl River, Mississippi. The Pearl River Blues Berry Farm will hold it’s annual festival this Saturday, featuring food, drinks, mementos (how mysterious!) live music, and whatever blueberries you can find. Choose to make it a day trip OR pitch a tent in the blueberry field and stay the night. If you can’t decide what to do, this may be the deal-breaker: there’s a slip n’ slide.Click here for directions, and see you there.

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti ( 8 p.m.) — A Beverley Hills Jew who calls himself Menopause Man... priceless. Having seen Ariel Pink a few years ago at One Eyed Jacks, it’s safe to say a real performance can be expected. From rolling across the stage to a flaccid crowd surfing attempt, this man really brings it. Experimental rock/pop/chillwave/shoegaze/emo (I could keep going, he wouldn’t stop me) Pink has many a standout track, a number of them on his most recent release Before Today. If you like "Round and Round" (and thisunofficial video) , you’ll like the show.

SUNDAY, 6/16

Adults/Swim (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.) — Are you ready? From now until August 25, The W Hotel (in the CBD, not the Quarter) will open it’s rooftop pool for swimming, DJ spinning, drinking (Bottle $ervice), Cabana packages and more. Show up, swim, simple. Oh, and it’s sponsored by Ciroc. #winning
