From The Frontline: Trixie Minx

Trixie Minx
The Historic New Orleans Collection

The art of burlesque has a long history in New Orleans. During the pandemic, local burlesque icon Trixie Minx found herself without a stage, so she leaned into the comedy of her performance art. In this first-person narrative from the Historic New Orleans Collection’s series, From The Frontline, Trixie Minx reflects on ballet, burlesque, and the role of comedy in a crisis.

Sarah Holtz covers local history. Her work has also aired on Houston Public Media, Northern California Public Media, KFAI, KTOO, KUNM, WCAI, WGBH, and WWOZ.
Mark Cave is an oral historian and senior curator at the Historic New Orleans Collection.
