Inside The Arts: Opera Fusion, Be Pretty And Shut Up, Much Ado About Nothing

Jun 11, 2019

This week on Inside the Arts, an intimate musical experience as the award-winning Lyrica Baroque chamber ensemble presents Opera Fusion, featuring Ravel's Piano Trio. Vocalists Paul Groves and Sarah Jane McMahon join the ensemble merging chamber music and arias from dramatic operas in a bold musical adventure. Cellist Daniel Lelchuk joins us for a chat.

Then, Be Pretty and Shut Up, a new body of work by visual artist Carmen Mariscal extends its run at the Mexican Cultural Institute of New Orleans. The exhibit explores the difficulties of women not being able to share their voice because of societal norms. Curator Marcela Correa visits with us.

And, the Bard's comedy Much Ado About Nothing opens the 26th season for the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane. Director Burton Tedesco and actor Graham Burke are with us in-studio.

Airs Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m., and Thursdays at 8:45 a.m.
