Chihuly Sculpture Installed at City Park

Dale Chihuly's 22-foot-tall sculpture called Rose Crystal Tower was unveiled today in front of the Botanical Garden in City Park, where it will remain on public display for two years.

The "Rose Crystal Tower" was moved from Union Square Park in New York City to City Park by the Helis Foundation.

It's made from a plastic that artist Chihuly used in his 2000 exhibit "Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem." It's held together with steel. He discovered crystal was too heavy.

An exhibit of new work by Chihuly is planned for spring 2019 at the Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans.
