It’s a new year, and the Senate is back to work.
The Senate closed 2013 by passing a budget that discontinued unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed. It begins 2014 by taking up a bill that would provide an extension of the benefits.
The House returns to work tomorrow, and it will be taking up a bill that would safeguard data on HealthCare.gov.
NPR digital politics editor, Charlie Mahtesian, joins Here & Now’s Meghna Chakrabarti to discuss the new year in Congress.
