Friends of Music NOPR Night

Join New Orleans Public Radio’s James Arey and Jack Hopke to hear the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center at 7:30 pm on Monday, November 5 at Tulane’s Dixon Hall. Honoring our longstanding partnership in support of classical music in New Orleans, the Friends of Music are making 50 tickets available to listeners of WWNO 89.9 FM and Classical 104.9 FM.

Ticket quantity is limited; first come first served. You must register in advance to receive complimentary tickets. Tickets can be picked up at the New Orleans Public Radio table in the Dixon Hall lobby before the performance. Limit of two tickets per person.

Information about the performance and parking is at friendsofmusic.org. Parking space is scarce on the Tulane campus. Friends of Music provides a shuttle bus between Dixon Hall and Tulane’s Collins Diboll Garage. Click here for information, parking, and a campus map. On November 5 the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will perform Schubert’s Trout Quintet (Forellenquintett), formally known as the Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667. Rather than the usual piano quintet lineup of piano and string quartet, the Trout Quintet is written for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. The piece is known as the Trout because the fourth movement is a set of variations on Schubert's earlier Lied "Die Forelle" ("The Trout").

Under the artistic direction of David Finckel and Wu Han, Musical America’s 2012 Musicians of the Year, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center brings its trademark artistic excellence to every touring performance, providing audiences with beautifully crafted programs representing the very best in chamber music.
