New Orleans-Based Putumayo Records Celebrates 25 Years

New Orleans-based Putumayo Records is celebrating 25 years this spring, and expanding its business model to include streaming, children's books and cultural travel experiences.


They’ve been to Cuba and are planning excursions toNew OrleansandPeruthis year.The trips are personally curated by Putumayo founder/CEO Dan Storper. Karl Lengel talked with Dan recently about the music, the books and the trips.



Karl Lengel has worked in the lively arts as an actor, announcer, manager, director, administrator and teacher. In broadcast, he has accumulated over two decades of on-air experience and is currently WWNO’s anchor for NPR’s “All Things Considered” and a host for “Louisiana Considered”. He holds a BS in Professional Management from Nova Southeastern University and an MFA in Film and Theatre from the University of New Orleans.
