Bring Your Ownis a nomadic storytelling series that takes place in living rooms, backyards and other intimate spaces within the community. Each month, seven storytellers have 7 minutes to respond to a theme. BYO airs on All Things New Orleans and is a biweekly podcast on wwno.org.
This story was told in the courtyard of the Alvar Library on April 3, 2014. The theme of the evening was “On the Verge”. Here, storyteller CJ Hunt goes back to the 6th grade when he finds out he’s moving to a new town, and decides how he’s going to leave his mark.
