New Orleans, La. – The former officer accused of shooting Henry Glover is now facing a possible life sentence. He never denied shooting at Glover, but claimed he feared for his life in the unrest and looting that broke out after the 2005 storm and flooding. Another officer was convicted of driving Glover's body away and setting fire to the car with the man inside. Two officers were acquitted of charges that they beat two men who brought Glover to a police compound for help. The fifth officer was convicted of covering up the crime. The U-S Attorney in New Orleans called the verdict critical to the city's recovery and healing from the storm. The police department is the focus of several federal investigations into conduct committed in the chaos after Katrina.
