St. Charles Parish officials say they are watching for rising water as south winds driven by the tail end of Tropical Storm Isaac create storm surge.
Officials said the threat is expected on the west bank of the Mississippi River during the overnight hours, especially in neighborhoods south of U.S. Highway 90.
Power lines were down around the parish and some roadways were flooded. However, as of Wednesday night there were no reports of homes being flooded.
A 24-hour curfew is in effect until further notice.
Along the Mississippi River, the Hale Boggs Bridge was expected to reopen after a vessel got loose in the river. The Coast Guard said the vessel has been secured.
