Troopers rescue fawn from floodwaters

State police say troopers in Madisonville rescued a fawn from rising floodwaters on Louisiana Highway 22.

Trooper Nick Manale says Trooper Bill Blackwell carried the fawn to high ground, where it was reunited with its mother.

The highway was one of several closed by floods on Wednesday.

Beau Gast, president of the Louisiana Wildlife Rehabilitators Association, says rehabilitators expect people to bring in a number of orphaned baby squirrels and other animals as a result of the storm.

He says local rehabilitators can be located by calling (888) 308-3922 or going to LAWRAOnline.com.
