The host of a program on the History Channel is planning on having a bash to celebrate what some call the Maya apocalypse.
Giorgio Tsoukalos is the host of the History Channel's "Ancient Aliens" program. He is one of the leading proponents of the theory that alien astronauts sparked ancient myths, but he doesn't think the world is going to end Friday.
He is hosting a party with bands, food trucks, lights and a mock spaceship that will descend on to a stage at midnight Friday.
He says the tongue-in-cheek idea is that the spectacle will convince the space gods to avert the doom allegedly predicted by the Mayans.
Tsoukalos says this party has been in the making for 25,600 years, or the life span of the Mayan calendar.
