'I Did My Part': Carol L. LaMotte's Civil Rights Story

A pin like the one Carol L. LaMotte wore at the 1963 March on Washington. She lost hers during Hurricane Katrina.

Gert Town native Carol L. LaMotte spent her childhood in segregated New Orleans. As a member of the local NAACP Youth Council, she participated in sit-ins and other demonstrations at the height of the civil rights movement. The Historic New Orleans Collection spoke with LaMotte for this edition of NOLA Life Stories.
