Congressional Delegation Reacts To State Of The Union

Louisiana’s Congressional delegation kept to their party lines when reacting to President Obama’s State of the Union address.

Nola.com reports Republican Senators David Vitter and freshman Bill Cassidy were critical.

Cassidy won his election largely based on opposition to the Affordable Care Act. He agreed with Obama that the middle class is suffering, but said the president’s plan to help won’t work.

Vitter said the administration’s business policies are blocking economic progress.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was one of the House leaders who escorted the president to the House chamber last night

He said almost 80 percent of the American people will not qualify for any of the president's new spending and tax credits.

Across the aisle, Democratic Congressman Cedric Richmond said the investor class is doing well in the current economy and can afford to pay more to help those who aren’t faring as well in the economic recovery.
