Tulane University staff members are given a COVID-19 vaccine consent form to fill out prior to receiving their first dose.

With Louisiana receiving a higher number of vaccine doses from the federal government and the governor’s recent eligibility expansion, the Greater New Orleans area will host several vaccination events this coming weekend.

In Orleans Parish, many schools are holding their own site specific events, but a number of upcoming events are open to all teachers and in some cases individuals in other eligibility groups.

Friday, March 5

Ochsner Health Vaccine Drive-Thru
Shrine on Airline, 6000 Airline Drive, Metairie

Ochsner Health and Jefferson Parish will host a mass vaccination event, distributing more than 2,700 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

Sign up for a vaccine appointment through Ochsner’s online portal or by calling 844-888-2772. Call center hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Photo ID and insurance cards are not required, but will help speed up the registration process. Teachers should bring their employee ID.

Saturday, March 6

New Orleans East Hospital at KIPP Morial
7701 Grant St., New Orleans

KIPP New Orleans Schools in partnership with New Orleans East Hospital will hold a vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to all eligible people but requires pre-registration. There are 150 appointments available. Bring your Louisiana ID and health insurance card if applicable.
