2012 French Quarter Festival Opens Today!

The 2012 French Quarter Festival.
The 2012 French Quarter Festival.

It is billed as the largest free music festival in the South.  Over a half-million people are expected in and around the Vieux Carré as the French Quarter Festival kicks-off four days of music, food and fun.

We talk with Marci Schramm, the French Quarter Festival's Executive Director, about this year's festivities. For more info check out their website, or WWNO's 2012 French Quarter Festival Guide. WWNO will also have a tent on Decatur Street, across from Jackson Square, throughout the weekend.

"This is NPR's Morning Edition, at 89.9 WWNO. Good Morning, I'm Diane Mack."
