We also hear the latest news from the state legislative session and learn about a new study on the deadliness of hurricanes.

New Orleans City Council Member Joe Giarrusso recently proposed freezing the city’s public works budget. He joins us to discuss why he believes this controversial proposal might encourage city agencies to start solving its problems.

The state legislative session kicked off earlier this week, and Louisiana lawmakers have been busy with the redistricting process and the ongoing investigation into the death of Black motorist Ronald Greene. The Advocate’s Editorial Director and columnist Stephanie Grace joins us for an update.

A new study out of Columbia University’s Earth Institute suggests that the official tally of hurricane-related deaths might not encompass just how fatal these storms can be. WWNO’s coastal reporter Halle Parker spoke with Dr. Robbie Parks to learn more about his research into the deadliness of these storms.
