Tales of the Cocktail founder Ann Tuennerman and co-founder Paul Tuennerman.

This week on Louisiana Eats!, we go behind the scenes at the biggest annual cocktail gathering in the world, Tales of the Cocktail.

We begin with Mr. Cocktail himself, Paul Tuennerman, husband of the visionary leader and founder of Tales, Ann Tuennerman. Mr. Cocktail spills the beans on what life is like as the husband of the powerhouse who is Mrs. Cocktail.

Then, legendary Las Vegas bartender Tony Abou-Ganim recounts his illustrious history behind the bar, and master sommelier Richard Betts explains his "scratch and sniff" method of wine tasting.

Join us as we raise a glass and toast the 12th annual Tales of the Cocktail!

Philip Guichet wins first place for his Whiskey Punch cocktail at 1956 Early Times National Mixed-Drink Competition.

Philip Guichet’s Grasshopper cocktail achieved international fame, having placed second in the 1918 New York competition. His Whiskey Punch never received that attention, despite winning first place in the 1956 Early Times National Mixed-Drink Competition. Philip preserved a copy of his recipe behind a framed group of photos from the event, discovered in Tujague’s third-floor attic. In 2015, for the first time in the twenty-first century, Philip Guichet’s prizewinning Whiskey Punch was served again at Tujague’s.
