Louisiana Eats Celebrates Jazz Fest
On this week's show, we head down to the Fairgrounds for some Jazz Fest fun!
We begin by sampling red beans and rice with longtime vendors Judy Burks and Morris Douglas. Judy's Red Beans booth has been woven into the very fabric of Jazz Fest over the 40 years that she's been stirring the pot at the Fairgrounds.
Then, we meet theSheik! New Orleans music legend Michael O'Hara joins us to talk about his life and career in New Orleans.
We also pay a visit to the RomanCandy man. On many an afternoon in New Orleans, you'll find Ronnie Kotteman on his 103-year-old cart on the streets of Uptown New Orleans. You can also visit Ronnie and his wagon every Jazz Fest, parked inside the fairgrounds near the Gentilly gate -- the same spot he’s occupied since the 70's.
We close out our festival day with TerranceOsborne. You may have spotted Terrance's artwork at previous Jazz and Heritage Festivals, where he operates a mini gallery, or perhaps you've seen his official, highly sought-after Jazz Fest posters. We visit Terrance in his West Bank studio.
It’s Jazz Fest time in New Orleans and we're celebrating on Louisiana Eats! For more of all things Louisiana Eats, be sure to visit us at PoppyTooker.com.
