Art Market, with Mia Volkemmer and John Fleming

New Orleans has a long history of being home to artists, including Degas and John James Audubon. Peter's guests on this week's Out to Lunch are artist John Fleming, and arts administrator Mia Volkemmer.

Mia Volkemmer is the Art Market Manager for the Arts Council of New Orleans — a private non-profit organization, also designated as the city’s official arts agency. The Art Market is the monthly gathering of local artists in Palmer Park.

John Fleming is an artist working in leather, making extraordinarily beautiful and expressive masks. Masking is part of our New Orleans tradition, a fundamental element of Mardi Gras. John’s unique take on masking as fine art tells us something about our city and about the strength of the New Orleans fine art market.

Peter Ricchiuti is the finance professor you wish you had back in college! His insight and humor have twice made him the top professor at Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business. After a successful career on Wall Street, Ricchiuti served for five years as Assistant State Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer for the State of Louisiana. There he skillfully managed the State's $3 billion investment portfolio.
