It's New Orleans
Paul Maassen and Nick Spitzer.

If somebody walks up to you on Bourbon Street and says “I bet I know where you got them shoes,” you’ve got a pretty good idea of how he’s making a living. There's a phrase you hear even more often. It’s, “Brought to you by.” As in, “Today’s show is brought to you by…”

Like the “shoes on Bourbon Street”, “brought to you by” is a phrase about revenue. You hear it on public radio. Including this show. But do you know what it means? Do you know the difference between public and commercial radio?

Paul Maassen, General Manager of WWNO, has been in commercial and public radio. Paul is taking a lunch break from working in radio to work on the radio. Paul is Peter Ricchiuti's guest on this edition of Out to Lunch.

As well as holding down a day job as Professor of Anthropology at Tulane University, Nick Spitzer is the creator, producer, and host of one of America’s most popular music radio shows, American Routes. Although New Orleans is one of America's most popular musuc cities, Nick remains our only nationwide radio music personality. American Routes is heard by around a million people a week on 300 radio stations across America.

Peter Ricchiuti is the finance professor you wish you had back in college! His insight and humor have twice made him the top professor at Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business. After a successful career on Wall Street, Ricchiuti served for five years as Assistant State Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer for the State of Louisiana. There he skillfully managed the State's $3 billion investment portfolio.
