Hornets Foundation Taking Shape at All-Star Break

Hornets rookie Austin Rivers says he isn't ready to give up on the playoffs quite yet, even though New Orleans is 19-34.

While Rivers' postseason talk sounds far-fetched, the source of his optimism is evident.

Once as bad as 5-22, the Hornets head into the All-Star break having won four of five and 14 of 26, including a 99-63 demolition of Portland on Wednesday night.

Hornets coach Monty Williams says he'd love to have more wins, but thinks the Hornets are "in a good spot" in terms of growth. Young players including rookie Anthony Davis, leading scorer Ryan Anderson and point guard Greivis Vasquez are all showing substantial progress.

Williams says they must "finish the foundation" when the season resumes, then the franchise can build on that next summer.
