A small, mid-major university in Lake Charles, Louisiana is making an impact in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

A dozen schools from the Gulf South made it into the 2024 NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, including (left-right, top-bottom) McNeese State University, Samford University, Jackson State University, Grambling State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. For these schools, making it into the tournament is an accomplishment that can have a ripple effect on the entire school.
