Suspects In Deputies' Shooting Linked To Domestic Terrorism

Several suspects arrested after two Louisiana sheriff’s deputies were shot and killed and two others wounded are believed to be part of a group on the FBI’s domestic terrorism watch list. The group was heavily armed.

A sheriff in the New Orleans suburb where the shooting occurred Thursday says some of the seven suspects in custody are part of a movement called “sovereign citizens.” The FBI says the group doesn’t believe in paying taxes, and they’re suspected of threatening judges and law enforcement officials.

The suspects had been under surveillance in another Louisiana community but they disappeared. Louisiana state police are leading the investigation, gathering evidence on the suspects from at least two other states.
