Two Toddlers Shot During Violent New Orleans Weekend

Two small children are among the wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Lower 9th Ward.

New Orleans police say two teenagers were killed and five people injured when shots were fired from a passing car at a home at the 5400 block of Burgundy Street around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Relatives tell Nola.com/the Times-Picayune that one of the two injured toddlers was shot in the head. One man and an 18-year-old woman were killed at the scene.

Police also responded to a shooting yesterday morning at the Westin New Orleans hotel at Canal Place. They say a 20-year-old man shot his friend before killing himself.

It prompted a response from the department’s SWAT team.

Detectives are also investigating the case of two men found dead in a car early Saturday along Interstate 10 in New Orleans East.
