All NOLA Public School buildings will be closed and classes cancelled Monday and Tuesday due to Hurricane Marco.

Virtual classes will be canceled and school buildings will be closed early next week due to Hurricane Marco, NOLA Public Schools announced Sunday.

Marco, a Category 1 hurricane, is expected to make landfall by 7 p.m. Monday and should exit the state by Tuesday night. A second storm, Category 2 Hurricane Laura, is expected to hit the southern coast of Louisiana that same evening.

The district plans to monitor the two storms over the next few days before deciding whether to extend closures.

Students have been learning remotely since the start of the school year, but many teachers have been working from their classrooms. Buildings have also been open for meal pickup and other wrap-around services. These services have also been suspended.
