Street flooding in Midcity, New Orleans. June 10, 2020.

Tropical Storm Cristobal came and went through New Orleans without delivering much of the forecasted flooding. So here comes a thunderstorm to do the job instead.

New Orleans residents are reporting widespread street flooding and NOLA Ready has issued several alerts, including a flash flood warning a little before 9:30 a.m.

Just ahead of those alerts, the National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans said "moderate to heavy" rain is moving through the New Orleans metro area. The flash flood warning covers New Orleans, Marrero, Metarie, Kenner and Waggaman, and lasts until 10:45 a.m.

New Orleans EMS said its high-water resources (read: rafts) are on standby for flood water emergencies and residents should call 911 to report major street flooding.

This probably goes without saying, but we'll say it anyway: don't try to drive in this.
