McDonogh 42 Charter School in Treme welcomed younger students back to the classroom in late September after months of coronavirus closures. Public school students missed another week of in-person classes in late October due to Hurricane Zeta.

New Orleans public schools will reopen Wednesday after a full week of closures due to Hurricane Zeta and subsequent power outages. The district will also resume its community feeding program.

The district’s central offices and most of its charter schools were already scheduled to be closed Tuesday for Election Day, district spokeswoman Taslin Alfonzo said in a statement.

Schools in nearby St. Bernard Parish and Jefferson Parish are also set to reopen Wednesday.
