Today my daughter, Beatrix, turns fifteen. Having grown up in farmers markets, she not only has a culinary knowledge of food but a passion for it as well. She is also a “food gawker.”
Are you familiar with the website? It's a place for food bloggers to post recipes and images of dishes they love. This morning, when I unpacked my market purchases onto the kitchen counter, Beatrix showed me images of recipes that would suit her fancy, and it gave me an idea that might help you, should you cook for all ages in your household: Use Food Gawker to pique interest among your younger diners.
They way I see it is this: Generating excitement for food is the best remedy to prevent bad food habits.
You can learn more about Food Gawker at FoodGawker.com. For WWNO, this is Richard McCarthy.
