Early voting for Louisiana’s May 3 Municipal General Election will begin Saturday, April 19. Voters in East Baton Rouge will also choose a new state representative in a Special Primary Election.

Early voter turnout so far is very low for Louisiana’s March 29 election to decide the fate of four constitutional amendments and, for some voters, local races and tax referendums.

Louisiana’s chief elections official has authorized a temporary alternative voting site for certain precincts in Orleans Parish that expect to be inundated with heavy traffic and road closures for this weekend’s Taylor Swift concerts.

The Registrar of Voters’ office will open at least five early voting sites across the city.

If you want to register to vote in person or by mail for the Oct. 14 primary, you’ll have to do it by this Wednesday, Sept. 13.
